Chevron (noun): “A badge consisting of stripes meeting at an angle, a v-shaped pattern.” Also a military insignia, a fabric pattern and a petroleum corporation.
Usage: “Driving a snowmobile downhill in a chevron pattern is ill-advised”
Ignominious (adjective): discredible, humiliating.
Usage: “An ignominious exit is made even more so with an open fly.”
Tidings (noun): “news or information.”
Usage: “No one receives tidings that are neither happy or sad. Tidings of indifference are simply called ‘news'”
Filigreed (adjective): “Decorate, ornate, fanciful”
Usage: “My filigreed toilet seat is a hit at parties but hard on the hindquarters”
Dandling (verb): “to move lightly up and down, as on one’s knee or in one’s arms.”
Usage: “Dandling an elephant may result in sore knees”
Panegyric: (noun) “a lofty oration or writing in praise of a person or thing;”
Example: Please don’t deliver a panegyric on the succulance of my franks and beans cassarole. Eating them and belching is praise enough.

Palimpsest (noun): “A manuscript that has been written more than once with the earlier writing incompletely erased and often legible.”
