A Great Day on the Lower East Side
100 of the world’s greatest klezmer musicians posed in front of the legendary Eldridge Street Synagogue in lower Manhattan. Inspired by the A Great Day in Harlem photograph, taken in 1958 and the subject of a great documentary.

Thanks for taking the time to post this. It took 2 1/2 years to organize this event and it was truly memorable. After the actual photo shoot the klezmer march was superb. It was Yiddish street theatre at its best: raucous, mind-numbing, raw, exciting, spontaneous, alive! Soon we will have posters of “thee” photo with the caption October 12, 2007 “A Great Day on Eldridge Street.”
Again thanks to all who helped make this a sucess.
