Rewind and start again:

What was the last movie you rewatched after not having seem it for a while? Did it hold up or seem silly, dated, whatever? Did you find yourself saying, “Yep, as good as I remember.” or saying “I used to like this?”

You tell me yours, I’ll tell ya mine. Hint: Chris Rock, as you never seen him before.

  1. The last movie I rewatched was The Usual Suspects. Definitely as good as I remember. Still in love with Kevin Spacey’s acting.

  3. I watched Harry Potter on DVD this weekend and I saw it at the movie theater fall.

  5. I tried to watch “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” last night. I picked up the DVD for $20 a few weeks ago and I’d heard the film was much better now that the director (Robert Wise of “The Sound of Music,” believe it or not) had re-cut it. Sadly, I only watched about half an hour before I realized that nobody can make William Shatner a better actor. I guess I enjoyed the movie when I saw it in the theatre when I was 14, though…

  7. There is a film festival in here somewhere, is there not? The “Dated Film Festival?” where you can only screen movies you saw at least 3 years ago?
BTW: No one has guessed my movie yet.

  9. My most recent revisited movie was Lethal Weapon. Certain lines strike me as very 80s, L.A. seemed so much more conservative back then.
I’m guessing your Chris Rock movie is either Dogma or Pootie Tang, since I know you’re a big fan of both.

  11. This feels like a confessional.
I was a big fan of the movie “Dirty Dancing”when it came out. I think I was in eigth grade. I had the soundtrack on tapes (there were two!) and yes, my first concert was the Dirty Dancing tour when they performed at the Nebraska State Fair.
I received the special edition (yes, really!) VHS for my birthday and for whatever irrational reason, I still like the movie but it does elicit far more snickering now than it did when I first saw it long ago. When it played on cable television I think I saw it 30 times.
“No one puts baby in the corner.”
Well, that about wraps up my confessional.

  13. Nope and nope. No one’s guessed the Chris Rock movie yet. I’ll throw up another hint. A really skilled use of a Color Me Badd song.
