A Red Letter Day for Contemporary Fiction:

Today is the birthday of Ann Patchett, George Saunders and T.C. Boyle, three of my all-time favorite writers (via The Writer’s Alamanac).

  1. I’m not in love with TC Boyle. I’ve read two of his books — Riven Rock and the Inner Circle. The first one I mistakenly left on the seat of a plane when I was about 3/4 of the way through it, but was so un-enthusiastic about it, that I didn’t bother to go out and get a new copy. Inner Circle started off strong, but then lost steam. Is there a definitive TC Boyle book that you recommend above all others?
