Understanding the Chalk:

Does anyone quite understand blog chalking? I’m just getting my arms around the mechanics of it but I don’t quite get the point. I get that you can mark you blog with where you’re from but untiul someone collects that data and starts mapping it, what difference does it make?

Do you know?

  1. I think the idea is that someone can enter a search in google in the format “blogchalk city country” and get a bunch of results organized more efficiently. I don’t think I’ll be bothering, since I get lots of visits from Google visitors looking for way more interesting things!

  3. Yeah, you got it James… I think… but you’re also right about it being silly. It is an imprecise thing and search results won’t always come up as expected. And another weird thing: yesterday my site came up #3 in a Google search for “blogchalk philadelphia”, but today there is only one match. I wonder if Google is squashing these blogChalks for some reason. Oh well.

  5. Also, I would gather most people who read blogs know where the other bloggers they read are located. More and more tools are being created for webloggers to meet up and unify which I think is grand. But whom will create the efficient tools for this to happen. Anybody tried “Meet up?”
