Insinuation of Cars:

Check out this photo (via my friend Sara) of snowy New York. Any wonder why it’s not much of an auto culture out there?

  1. It’s not the snow, Kevin, it’s the parking, which is a part-time job if you live in Manhattan. Twice a week you sit in your car for an hour and a half waiting for the street sweeper. You sit there until it arrives, you pull out quickly so you don’t get a ticket, and then you grab your space back, good for another three days. If you own a car in Manhattan, all you think about is parking and when you don’t have to move your car because alternate side is suspended, it’s like you’ve gotten a reprieve from the governor.
If it sounds like I’ve written about this before it’s because I have 🙂
