Steak or Fish?

AirlineMeals.net is a collection of photos of airplane food from flights all over the world, most with hilarious captions. Fasincating in a trashy-John Waters sort of way (via the latest issue of Bitch Magazine).

  1. As someone who doesn’t travel (my last big trip was in 1977) this site is amazing. It’s been so long that I can’t even remember what was served, I vaguely remember cold peas and carrots. Kevin with work you move around a lot, do you usually travel by plane? What’s your experience with the flight grub?

  3. Paul,
Yeah, I probably have to get on at least ten times a year. I’m a midwesterner, who went to college in the east, graduate school in the south and now live in Northern California. So my family friends and work is scattered all over tarnation.
Thankfully, I’m rarely on a flight long enough to REQUIRE me to eat the in-flight meal. I usually grad something at the airport before I board the plane and keep a half-dozen Odwalla bars in my bag at all times. One of those and like, the roll, from the in-flight meal usually does the trick.
As far as how good the food is, it’s cafeteria food, like the kind I’ve had at 500 conferences, big events what have you. it’s more the idea of being forced to eat off a try put in front of me by someone in uniform while trapped in a huge metal tube 35,000 feet above the earth that seems a little fascist to me.

  7. It’s a joke from the movie “Airplane” actually, but it was probably a bit broad.
