    I think the writing and the story are brilliant but the tone is utterly incongruous with the plot. I’m putting it on hold while I finish Chuck Klosterman’s latest.

  5. The Chuck must be fun (rock + death, you can’t beat it). In another part of the same literary forest (politics + death), I’m listening to the audio version of Sarah Vowell (and a stellar cast)reading ASSASSINATION VACATION. A droll hoot. I know what you mean about the Patchett, beat-to-beat good writing but it ultimately seemed like a broadway musical masquerading as a piece of serious fiction.
