The 500 Films of Bucky Sinister:
San Francisco writer Bucky Sinister has taken up a challenge. Fill his Netflix queue with 500 movies (the most you can have) then try and watch them all in a year. KQED, our mammoth public broadcaster, is sponsoring his effort through this blog.

Bucky better hope he doesn’t get ‘throttled’ by Netflix!

So this is how KQED puts your generous donations to work? I’d feel jipped.

Interesting. I’ll be curious to see how far he gets.

Has KQED actually gotten interesting since I’ve been gone?

A little but in no way connected to the radio station which is still as dull as ever.

AFAIK, Netflix doesn’t know yet. They haven’t said anything. Part of the whole deal is whether or not it’s physically possible to get them, watch them, send them back, and get them replaced in time. Even with the 8 at a time sub, it’s an effort to get 10 discs per week, which is the pace I must have. I have run out four or five times already.

It’s “gypped.” Which is a remark about the Roma people, from the derogatory term gypsy.

It’s in the vernacular, so we don’t think about using it. Wait until you’re a dork like me who says “oh, you’re a gypsy?” at a party, having no idea that it’s considered a slur.
I’m at 54 right now, posted reviews through 52. It’s fun, but to keep up, I stay up later than I used to. The trick so far is that I watch as many as possible on Tuesdays. Hopefully they get replaced before the weekend. For sake of the blog, I’m watching them all the way through, even though I’m the kind of guy who takes off a movie I don’t like.
